A Journey of Compassion: How Tim and Jodi Eberly Are Bringing Hope and Health to Northern Ghana

Tim and Jodi Eberly have dedicated their entire lives to caring for others, working as pharmacists for over 40 years before retiring to the beautiful mountains of Bend, Oregon. Their deep love for the African continent blossomed during their extensive travels to more than ten African countries.

But it was a profound, humanizing encounter in a South African township that truly opened their eyes and captured their hearts.

While visiting a local community, they met a resilient woman named Charlotte. She proudly welcomed them into her modest home, which had dirt floors and relied on a shared community bathroom. Despite her lack of material wealth, Charlotte was overflowing with joy, expressing that she had everything she needed in life because she was surrounded by her beloved friends and family.

During that same journey, Tim and Jodi witnessed children eagerly learning complex anatomy and chemistry in a dirt-floor classroom. It was a powerful reminder that these communities are filled with brilliant, hardworking individuals who simply lack systemic resources.

"𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭... 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲," Tim reflects.

This realization sparked a lifelong mission for the couple. "𝐖𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝, 𝐈 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚," Jodi shares.

To answer that beautiful calling, Tim and Jodi have made a breathtaking donation to 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (Projects 006 and 007). Because of their boundless empathy, over 2,000 resilient people in Northern Ghana will receive the clean water and healthcare they so deeply deserve.

Their generosity brings our entire Impact Funnel to life on the ground:

● 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐫: Drilling deep, mechanized wells to provide the foundational, life-saving gift of safe, clean drinking water for the entire village.

● 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 & 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝: Delivering crucial health screenings for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV, followed immediately by Hepatitis B vaccinations to create an instant immunological defense against disease.

● 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐭: Wrapping these communities in care through mass deworming medications, which eradicate parasites and restore vital nutritional absorption for growing children.

● 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝: Distributing sanitary pads to protect the dignity of young women and keep them in the classroom, alongside condoms to halt disease transmission.

Tim and Jodi's compassion doesn't stop with these two events. They have deeply committed to leaving a portion of their estate to the Colussi Family Foundation (a U.S. 501(c)(3) Nonprofit) to ensure their legacy of love continues to reduce suffering in the region for generations to come.

When we come together as a global community, we have the power to break down the walls that hold people back. You don't have to fund an entire medical event to change a life—as we often say, even giving up a single cup of coffee can provide three life-saving vaccinations.

Join Tim and Jodi in our movement of compassion. Please, donate whatever you can today at https://donate.givebasicneeds.org and help us prove that 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐬. 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲. is more than a motto, it is a promise to humanity.
